Scared E- -Cat: A whimsical cozy KittyBerry mystery
by Carola Schmidt
JUNE 18-21
Middle-grade short story
The day disappeared. For days, daylight was gone. Certainly stolen.
KittyBerry couldn’t spare any time to investigate what happened to daylight. It’s not easy to be a kitty and take care of her bumblebee, the little fluffy-butt flying beauty she adopted one morning in the garden.
Like most kitties, KittyBerry had an owner. Kay was sometimes Sweet Kay but was sometimes a Karen, too. Kay didn’t value the gifts KittyBerry brought from the garden.
When she wasn’t dealing with all that sporadic cuteness, KittyBerry was dreaming of becoming a writer. The pen name Scared E–Cat had a nice ring to it. And she loved the idea of launching a blog with a memoir about her life, how to take care of bumblebees—even though her fluffy bumblebee was the #1 suspect—and her investigation to bring daylight back.
